Bangladesh vs Netherlands ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: Tigers thrash Netherlands by Six wickets to improve Quarter-final chances

Some good quality bowling by the spinners and good fielding by the Bangladeshis helped the home team confine Netherlands to a meagre 160 and then a patient 73 by Opener Imrul Kayes helped Bangladesh thrash Netherlands by six wickets at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
Netherlands won the toss and elected to bat first but their decision backfired as they got off to a extremely slow start with openers Eric Szwarczynski and Wesley Barresi addition just 28 runs off nine overs.
Shakib al Hasan then trapped Barresi leg prior to wicket in the 10th over, While Abdur Razzak had pinch-hitter Mudassar Bukhari caught behind in the 13th over. Szwarczynski scored 28 off 63 balls and presently when it looked he was settling down, skipper Shakib ran him out in the 23rd over to reduce Netherlands to 66 for 3. Tom Cooper  played well hitting some ground-breaking shots but didn't last long as he was run out by a combination of keeper and skipper Shakib.
Alexei Kervezee  and ten Doeschate tried to put up a strong fighting with the highest partnership of the innings (34), but it was all in vain as the former was stumped off Suhrawadi Shuvo in the 34th over. Abdur Razzak then had De Grooth trapped leg before wicket for four with the first ball of the 38th over, while he had Buurman caught by Imrul Kayes off the third ball to reduce Netherlands to 127 for 7 and then another two run outs destined that ten Doeschate was left stranded on 53* at the other end as Netherlands were bowled out for 160 with four overs remaining.
In reply, Bangladesh had a scare in the first over as they lost in-form Tamim Iqbal in the first over of the innings cleaned up by Bukhari, but Imrul Kayes and Junaid Siddique put on a crucial 92-run partnership off 20 overs to make sure that Bangladesh were in a comfortable position at 92 for 2 in the 21st over. Bangladesh lost Siddique in the 22nd over playing a loose shot, but Kayes carried on as brought up his half-century off 68 deliveries adding 59 runs for the third wicket with Shahriar Nafees before Cooper got into the act twice claiming the wickets of Nafees (37), bowled and Shakib (1), jammed by ten Doeschate in two overs to reduce Bangladesh to 153 for 4 in the 38th over. But Kayes (73*) and  Mushfiqur Rahim (11 not out) made sure that there were no more slip ups as they completed the game off in the 42nd over with six wickets remaining.
Imrul Kayes was named the man of the match for his uncomplaining knock of 73 off 113 deliveries with six hits to the fence.
Result: Bangladesh won by 6 wickets (with 52 balls remaining)
Scores: Netherlands: 160/10
 Bangladesh: 166/4

Cricket World Cup: Bangladesh v Netherlands

 World Cup Group B, Chittagong:
Bangladesh 166-4 (41.2 ovs) bt Netherlands 160 (46.2 ovs) by six wkts

Co-hosts Bangladesh boosts their hope of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the World Cup as they ease to success over the Netherlands in Chittagong.

The six-wicket win funds England must beat West Indies and hope extra results go their way - or be eliminated.
Bangladesh bowled the Dutch out for just 160 in 46.2 overs, with Abdur Razzak taking 3-29 and Ryan ten Doeschate top score with 53 not out.
The Tigers reached their target in 41.2 overs, Imrul Kayes hitting 73 not out.
The insistent nature of Bangladesh's victory only succeeds in further complicating the scenario in Group B, with no team yet throughout to the quarter-finals.
Only the Netherlands are out of quarter-final controversy, with India, West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh, England and Ireland all competing for the top four berths.
And the result increases the difficulty on England, who face the Windies in Chennai on Thursday expressive anything less than a win will end their World Cup campaign - but that still power not be enough, depending on other results.
The Dutch - who have now lost all five of their World Cup games - will be hugely disenchanted to have succumb in such tame fashion after skipper Peter Borren won the toss in Chittagong and decided to bat first.
Netherlands' Ryan ten Doeschate
Ten Doeschate's innings was a rare bring to light for Netherlands
On a slow track it was the Bangladeshi spinners who dominated procedures, with captain Shakib Al Hasan, Suhrawadi Shuvo and Razzak proving difficult to get away.
Eric Szwarczynski (29) and Tom Cooper (28) both started well, but the Netherlands' running between the wickets left much to be desired and equally men were run out, along with Borren for three and last man Adeel Raja for a duck.
It was left to Ten Doeschate, batting at five, to get the Dutch total over the 150 score, the Essex all-rounder being dropped on 14 and going on to reach fifty from 65 balls with a slash to the boundary off Razzak.
Ten Doeschate was left tall and dry when Raja was run out, but Bangladesh's reply got off to the worst possible start as Tamim Iqbal play on to the fourth ball of the innings from Mudassar Bukhari as he departed without scoring.
Kayes and Junaid Siddique began the transformation job and were both hugely impressive, putting on 92 in 20.1 overs to kill off any hopes the Dutch had of receiving back into the contest, Kayes bringing up his half-century from 68 balls.
Siddique struck four fours before he cut a long hop off Borren straight to Peter Seelar at extra cover, but the Dutch, though they managed to keep the runs down, could not take the wickets required to put Bangladesh under pressure.
Shahriar Nafees (37) added a further 59 in partnership with Kayes to take the Tigers to the brink of victory, though they had a brief wobble when he was bowled by Cooper and Shakib fell to the equal bowler, courtesy of a striking diving catch from Ten Doeschate.
But Mushfique Rahim smashed a six off Cooper to secure Bangladesh's second successive victory at the World Cup and offer them a chance of attainment the last eight ahead of their next game against South Africa in Mirpur on Saturday.
